"FEELING EMPOWERED": The mother of a child with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD) gives this CHADD testimonial: My son was diagnosed with AD/HD in 1989 and I saw nothing out there for me to understand the challenges that come with it. I just assumed he would outgrow it when he hit adolescence. I joined CHADD in 1998 and it provided me with the education, support and the understanding I needed to help him through the transition points in his life. As I've become more involved with CHADD, becoming a local Chapter coordinator and a teacher for the CHADD Parent to Parent: Family Training on AD/HD program, I continue to grow and evolve in my knowledge base. I have been able to help other stressed-out families raising children with learning differences that are not main stream. I feel through my affiliation with CHADD I have made a difference with these struggling families through education, information, and support on what it takes to raise a child who has AD/HD, proactively and effectively. My son has launched himself into a productive adulthood with accomplishments such as graduating college, cum laude, in four years. Support of CHADD means light at the end of the tunnel for children with AD/HD, their parents, and adults with the disorder. Workplace giving to CHADD through CFC #11773 helps so much.
