Meet Milca

Eleven-year-old Milca has been to the hospital more than 180 times and has undergone over 10 operations. At 4 months of age she was diagnosed with brittle bone disease, a rare disorder that affects the connective tissue and causes bones to break easily without any apparent reason. But Milca seeks no sympathy.

A constant source of optimism and encouragement, whether to herself or others, Milca has a special knack for helping those around her. She dreams of becoming a doctor one day, treating kids in need of miracles just like her. Thanks to cutting-edge medical care, Milca is on her way to living her dreams and is able to live an active life. Donations to Children's Miracle Network helped fund a rehabilitation engineering department at her hospital, which gave Milca a customized wheelchair that keeps her happy and on the go.

Milca may continue to be treated for fractures the rest of her life, but her positive spirit will never break. After all, "it's just a bone," she says.
