Cleft lip and cleft palate affect 1 in 600 newborns! We are dedicated to providing education, information and treatment referrals for patients and their families.

Human Interest Story Meet some of the people we got to know one typical, recent day in the life of the Cleftline:
  • An expectant mom in Ohio who'd just received a prenatal diagnosis of cleft lip and palate for her baby;
  • A seventy year old woman in California who'd just gotten a diagnosis of submucous cleft after a lifetime of believing that her speech issues were due to having had diphtheria as a child;
  • The mom of a four year old in Virginia who has learned that her child has a cleft of the soft palate after struggling for years with delayed speech, constant drooling, and feeding complications;
  • A fifty-six year old woman in Arizona with a repaired cleft palate - seven surgeries before age twelve - concerned about the changes she was experiencing related to the cleft;
  • The dad of a newborn in New Jersey, calling from the birthing hospital, looking for feeding support and education for his one-day old son with cleft lip and palate;
  • A resource professional in Arizona referring the family of a one month old girl with cleft issues and ectrodactyly;
  • The mom of a twenty year old woman in Indiana who still needs several cleft-repair surgeries, but insurance has been denying coverage since the young woman turned eighteen.
We understand that when patients and families are equipped with quality information, they become confident, productive, vital participants in their care experiences. The mission of the Cleft Palate Foundation depends on contributions from people just like you.
